What in the world is a “zoodled” noodle? Well when my little guy got a look at the new toy I brought home, the spiralizer, he was hooked. And I mean HOOKED. He wanted to spiralize everything we had in the house.
I am now, by choice, grain free, gluten free & dairy free. I went exploring options for noodles and knew that many of my raw food friends used something to make veggie noodles. In comes the spiralizer. You can use it on fruits, veggies, make curly potato fries etc.
In the pictures below we have done zucchini on the right and yellow squash and carrots on the left. They turned out awesome, crispy just as is and really great under a spaghetti sauce with turkey meat. (pictured below) You can use them for all kinds of things where you would have put rice or noodles there before. I also use them as a side dish with sauce over them as you can see below. This is chicken with tangy bbq sauce, tomatoes, grain free-gluten free-dairy free bread. Yum Yum.
I have also included a picture of all the different kinds of noodles you can make with the spiralizer. The far right is the smallest size noodle, the middle is the more flat and far left is the one that you could use for curly fries etc….I have used sweet potatoes and then sprinkled with spice and baked and they come out really tasty. The flat round piece is what is left when you are done making your noodle. I put them in a cast iron pan, lightly breaded with almond meal mixture and slightly fried and they were so tasty.
As you can see you can do lots and lots of things with “zoodled” noodles. Have fun with it and experiment.
Still wondering how we came up with “zoodled”? My little guy was trying to say zucchini and said “Can we make some “zoodled” noodles please?”
And now you have the “rest” of the story.
Check out the spiralizer here.
