I hear over from my clients over and over:
“I can’t do that, it would be selfish!”
“I can’t pick myself first, that would be selfish!”
Here’s the truth:
If you’re not picking you, who’s picking for you?
I get that it feels like you should be selfless to be seen, heard and valued.
But its exactly the opposite!
If you’re giving so much of yourself away, thinking that it will get you love and support, you might be going about it in the wrong way.
When I was younger, I thought being seen, heard and valued meant that I had to be loud. I acted out. I didn’t follow the rules.
What I realize now is that I wasn’t listening to myself, either. I couldn’t hear my own voice!
Remember: this is your life.
If you don’t stand for what you are and what you want – who’s going to?
Nobody else is going to create your life for you.
This is your choice, your opportunity and your challenge.
Be seen, heard and valued by yourself first.
Because when you value and listen to your self, when you see you – others get the best of you and you’ll have a bigger opportunity to connect in your relationships and friendships.
It’s not selfish, its your birthright to choose you first.
